So you’ve found your better half—or so you thought. Something in the back of your head is telling you there’s something amiss. Although the only way to get to the bottom of this is to hire a detective, you might first consider looking for some of the following signs that someone could be cheating.

1) When work has them tied up a lot, it could easily mean that at work, they’re busy. Or it could mean they’ve fallen for the person in the next cubicle. Either one is possible, but look a little further before decorating the front yard with their personal items.

2) If lovemaking turns from a nightly romp into a monthly possibility, depending on how busy they are at work or if their head hurts or if they have to get up early or... well, perhaps they’re getting serviced elsewhere.

3) If they suddenly want to try new positions in bed, it might be that they’re opening up. Or it could also mean that they’ve been practicing with a “friend” and want to show you what was learned.

4) You probably know your partner and their schedule pretty well, so for them to be suddenly occupied at times when they normally wouldn’t be, watch out. Look for excuses that just don’t add up.

5) Relationships leave clues. Check the car for items that don’t belong or the cell phone for numbers that you don’t recognize. If you have a home phone and you’re starting to get people hanging up on you that weren’t before, maybe something’s up.

6) If it’s not your birthday but you start getting gifts, this might be cause for worry. It could be that they’re feeling guilty if they’re not normally as thoughtful. If you find something’s up, keep the gift and ditch the dope.

7) You should be worried if they’re out with friends but can’t easily name who. If they refer to a group as “just some people from work” and not Mary from accounting and Peter from sales, they might be subtly hiding something.

8) Guilty people go out of their way to not seem guilty. If you ask them where they were and they get overly angry or defensive, that could be a sign your relationship is nearing an end.

9) If they suddenly want to give you a new look, lookout! If they want to see you in a new haircut or style of dress, it could mean they’re dressing you up to look like someone they like.

10) When they’re suddenly obsessed with getting clean after work, it could be signs they’re being a jerk. Running to the shower might signal some recent extracurricular activity.

11) Cologne or perfume on their clothes is only a sign when it isn’t yours. If you use a popular scent, then you might have to look deeper.

If you’re experiencing any of the above signs, it might be time for some professional help. Pay attention to the little voice in the back of your head. Even if they’re not cheating, if you don't trust them, it could still be a sign that this isn’t the relationship for you.
