Sunday morning was born with beautiful rays of sunlight streaming over the horizon and birds calling in the early morning air. I watched the day dawn, sipping on my hot cup of Java and waiting for my weekly pilgrimage to church. One of the cable faith programs was on in the background I heard one of the guests speaking for the need for particular Christian dating ideas. I didn’t think much of it as my mind was on the latest disaster I was reading about in the paper and on ensuring I left myself time to get to mass. It wasn’t until I made it to service that it really struck a cord.

Christian dating ideas, as with anything else, seems to be a little too selective to be something to be embraced. The sermon of the day was about the need for welcoming people of different races, cultures and faiths into our lives, yet there are still others that wish to separate us from those outside of our faith. Why do our dating ideas as Christians have to be different than the rest? We are already separated by faith; must we be separated in other areas of life?

Dating for single Christians should be intuitive. Anyone can go for a picnic in a park with that special someone and together from the same book. Must there be a concerted effort to suggest that we could read from the bible? I could rent a nice car this weekend and go for a drive with whomever I’m dating but must it be said that I stop at various churches throughout the countryside? Christian dating ideas should flow easily and naturally as people of faith and be free from the stilted notion that we need special instructions.

If you have to reach too hard for Christian dating ideas, my view is that perhaps you shouldn’t be reaching at all. To do so in any outward form seems like an act of separation and division and that goes against the beliefs of the church that I have come to know. The beauty of what we practice is that we can participate to whatever degree we see fit. If it’s important to us, we have a greater power guiding our instincts than any list on a website could teach us. Follow your heart and you’ll see Christian dating ideas at the dawning of each new day and hear them in the early morning song of the birds of Spring.
