I Don't Love You

By: Jenn Malko

I Don't Love You!There are few phrases that bring about as much change in a relationship as, ‘I don’t love you.’ For those words to come out, it usually takes some pretty extraordinary circumstances. Telling someone you don’t love them isn’t everyday conversation, after all. Those four words are death in a relationship. It may have just begun or you could be years in. Either way, when they’re used, either by you or someone else, it’s time to pack the bags and move on. But there is hope out there. There is life after, even if it doesn’t seem like it. You can and will pick up the pieces after a relationship has ended and you will move on. That’s what this life is all about, after all.

When someone close to you says it’s over, it’s time for your rational mind to kick in. That’s what someone usually means when they tell you that they’re not in love with you. To have broached the subject, there has to be some thought that they could be in love with you, else why the clarification? Your mind needs to quickly move on to the next step – acceptance. There’s no use thinking that they may fall in love with you at some point unless you’ve only known them for three hours after being stuck together in an elevator when the power went out and you, in your panic, told them that you want to have children with them or something to that extent. In that case, if you didn’t scare them off with your aggressiveness, there “may” be a chance that something could come out of your relationship – if you ever get rescued from the elevator, of course. Beyond that, your ship is sailing and you had better be on it. It will take you away from a relationship that has seen its last sunrise and set course for the bright future you have ahead. When love leaves, it’s best to seek closure and set your sites on the future.

"New love, true love, may only be clicks away!"

It’s a bit of a different story if someone forced those words out of you. Again, under normal circumstances, people don’t go around telling other people that they don’t love them. Yet you’ve gone and said it and now you need to understand what happens next. Usually when this happens, it’s just a reaffirmation of what you already know – that this person isn’t the right one for you. It’s not a mistake to have said it if your purpose was to clear the air on your feelings. Sure, after you tell someone you don’t feel for them the way they might hope, there’s bound to be some ugliness in the form of mascara running down a cheek or a wild barrage of unusual name-calling that might not paint you in the most appealing light. But hey – nobody said love was going to be easy. As a matter of fact, most people say love is hard. Welcome to your hardship!

It is time to move on and find someone who you do love or who loves you back the way you want. There are a number of ways to go about doing this, but one of the easiest ways is to check out the horde of dating sites on the market. All you have to do is take a look at the column on the left to see for yourself. What we do here, besides give tons of really useful advice, is rate dating sites. Not all are the crème of the crop. Some are just horrible. But there are many more than you could ever hope to find that are worth the time and effort your put into them. Think of dating sites as clubs or bars that are open 24/7 that you can visit any time from the comfort of your home or work. Everyone on a dating site is single like you and realizes that the face of dating has changed. You can still meet people in bars, but dating sites add extra depth to your dating that wouldn’t have been there otherwise. Finding love isn’t easy, as you well know, so keeping all avenues open is the best and quickest way to ensure it finds its way back into your life.

Love may not be in the air in your current relationship but it will be in one that’s getting closer to you by the day. ‘I don’t love you,’ is a powerful phrase and not to be taken lightly, but when used in the appropriate setting it can set you free. And free is where you want to be. Check out some of the many dating sites we’ve rated and ranked and you’ll soon find out exactly what we know: new love, true love, may only be clicks away!
