Romantic Love Poems

By: Jenn Malko

Romantic Love PoemsWordsmiths make love look easy. Read at any of the famous romantic poems from history and you’ll see what I mean. Writers can call on and control people’s emotions with a few strokes of their pen. They can bring extreme joy to your heart or send you to the depths of despair with their musings. Those skilled in the art of language can capture an audience and convey their points with such clarity that it leaves the reader without doubt. This skill, used for love by way of romantic poems, can have miraculous or catastrophic consequences -- depending on which outcome you’d like to reach. You can have the same impact in your relationships by using romantic poetry to your advantage!

Applying romantic poetry to your relationship is relatively easy, depending on your approach. Poetry can be used in notes or cards to really enhance what you feel in your heart. If you are a writer, you can perhaps whip off a few lines, paying particular attention to the meter and rhyme of your verse. If you have the skill, this can be most effective in romancing your love interest. For the rest of us, borrowing a few lines from a romantic poetry resource will work just fine. If you’re out buying cards, that’s what you get after all – colorful paper with poetry on the inside. Sure, you may have spent hours going through the card racks, trying to find just the right one. No matter how well you’ve done, though, it still doesn’t carry the same weight as if you take a blank card and write in a verse the recipient will know you spent time searching for. Even if it isn’t your own, there’s extra value in personalization.

Finding a great romantic love poem can be hard. After all, you don’t want to pull out the usual lineup of quotes and rhymes your love has heard a thousand times. Always keep in mind that you’re seeking something a little more unique and it should always be personal. It’s doubtful you’ll arrive at any page and find the perfect poem off the bat. Like anything worth doing, this will take time. You should watch out for general searches for love poetry as you might end up with stuff surfer have submitted. This isn’t always a bad choice, mind you, if you can tell the difference between good poetry and bad. Obviously, romance poetry is as subjective as anything else in art, but sticking with works that have stood the test of time is usually a smart play. LovePoetry.com has a small but nice collection of poems from the likes of Christopher Marlowe, Emily Dickinson and some Shakespeare chap. Poetry.com also has a list of 100 classic love poems, but they give them to you five at a time. That seems a little bizarre, but it’s not my romance poetry site to run! Another way to go is to use lyrics from songs. Sure, they may not share the same articulate form as a work by Tennyson, but they might be infinitely more applicable to love today. Check out Romantic-Lyrics.com for some other great romance poetry ideas!

Hopefully, from some of those romance poetry resources you can take something away that will have a positive impact on your love life. Keep it sincere and original and you’ll find the added effect of a few romantic words can make a real difference in the course of your relationship!
