STD Positive Dating
Niche dating sites suffer from the very thing that they seek to attract: targeted audiences. You won’t get as many people on a dating site that caters to knitting fanatics as you would on a general site, such as eHarmony.

Happy Halloween?
Last night, while most were out on the town, parading up and down the streets and bumping and grinding in the clubs, I was at a friends place eating chili and drinking red wine – Santa Carolina, Cabernet Sauvignon, in case you were wondering. Somehow we got on the subject of possibly going out on the town. It was never in the cards, really, as I had been out the previous evening with friends and was trying to recover.

Dating Quirks!
Online dating has some pretty interesting little quirks that come along with it. Obviously there are the quirks such as having to deal with fuzzy or edited pictures, the stretching of truth in profiles and the weirdos that come out of the woodwork looking for love or something more. But then there are the more subtly nuances. Take, for example, last night. I was cruising around on Date.com when I got a message from a friend’s sister.

Spinning!
I met a girl on Lavalife the other night. She works for a gym and teaches spinning. I’ve seen the classes – or rather heard them before I saw them – and they always looked interesting. I’ve been going to the gym for about three years now but I’ve never done anything else besides lift weights. Yet out of all the classes that they offer, spinning seemed the most interesting.

Friend Finding
I’ve been going through the sites again, re-rating them with new criteria, and it blows me away how well Friend Finder sites have done. They are some of the most popular in their field yet they have some major issues when it comes to the amount of free access they offer new visitors. I recently reviewed sites like
Korean Friend Finder, Filipino Friend Finder and Asia Friend Finder – as you can see, I’m starting at the top with “Asian Dating” and working my way down.

A Great Body
The good life, for me, involves keeping in shape. I try to get to the gym at least
three times a week. Most weeks I make it. Some weeks I don’t. But when I go in, it’s nice to see all the others who made the effort to get their buns in there. And I have to say, there on some mighty nice ones! Working out is a lifestyle for many. Keeping in shape is good for life, but it’s also good for love!

Yahooooo!
When it comes to free access and dating sites, I just don’t get why people would even join a site that doesn’t allow you to see a full profile or be able to see when each member last logged on. It just doesn’t seem to make any sense to me. I can understand it if you didn’t know any better about dating sites. That would be easy to explain. But knowing what else is out there certainly makes choices easy for someone like me.

Viagra and Me
VIAGRA! There, I said it! Have I told you how much I love Viagra? I think it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread – at least when it comes to relationships. I know there will be a time down the line when I will be in need of a little help when it comes to lovemaking. It’s a part of the body doing what it does with age. Now I don’t have to worry about that as much.

The Chic Magnet
Have I mentioned I’m selling my chic magnet? The time has come to put my house in order and the first things to go are the frills. In this case, my 2002 GSXR 600 race bike. Can I tell you how much I love riding that thing? She’s so sweet! She’s blue and silver and when you crack the throttle you’d better hold on tight cuz she cuts through air so quickly! Did you know you can go from 0 to 65MPH in first gear? She’s so fast. I’ve had it since the summer of 2002.

It's About The Rain
When it comes to weather, nothing seems quite as magical as rain. It’s
the soft pelting of liquid on windowsills and rooftops that make the perfect atmosphere for a good snuggle with that someone special. The problem is that it never rains as much as I’d like it to. I think there may have been two or three rainy days over the past summer . . . maybe! There were no huge storms or days where darkness reigned. It was basically perfect.

Spending Fall Alone
I love Fall! It’s finally here . . . the nights that get dark early, the leaves rustling along the ground and the cold air that means I only have to open my window to make it so cold I need to wrap myself up tight in m duvet. This is fantastic! Now there is one whole problem with Fall that I still have yet to conquer. I’m still single! Don’t you enjoy it more when you come in at night and snuggle up close to someone while you watch TV or read a book?

Taking it Off
I feel like I want to take myself offline. What the heck is wrong with me?
I’m always the one saying that anyone who is single needs to be online. You can’t land a fish if you don’t have your line in the water, right? Well here I am saying that I could use a break! I think my motivations are simple. I have a lot going on in life right now. I’m busy with work and my social calendar is about as full as I’d like it to be.

No Romance
A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by a woman on a dating site. Her profile didn’t have a picture and all she would say is that I should add her to MSN. I didn’t reply. She hit back early this week and I told her I wasn’t about to start spending time on someone who couldn’t be bothered to put a profile together. After a very long email which she explained her situation, I gave in.

Casual Dating?
What is a casual dating, exactly? Wikipedia doesn’t have an entry for it, but right near the top of possibilities is “casual relationship.” This must be close enough to what casual dating is supposed to mean. Wikipedia says it’s the term “used to describe the physical and emotional relationship between two unmarried people who engage in uncommitted sex acts.”

Dim Light of Morning
I love waking up to the dim light of morning. I find that quiet time before the alarm clock goes off, and the sounds of morning begin, to be magical. These days I spend that time alone – or with my roommate, on occasion. Her Royal Highness, Tas the Cat, tends to curl up on my chest while I read myself to sleep at night and then disappears shortly after the lights go off and the petting comes to an end. She’ll be there in those early hours on occasion as I turn and toss, smiling at the fact that I don’t have to get up quite yet.

Who Pays?
I was asked the question of who pays for a date last week in an interview. It’s a great question, I think. Historically, it has been the man. They made the money so they should pay. These days, there’s basic wage parity so why does the responsibility still stay with the man? Seriously, WHY?? Sure, haircuts are more expensive for women, but we really don’t care if your shoes match your purse or not – at least not enough to pay for every date we go on! Yes, truth be told, this is how I feel.

Fear Mongering
True.com has an interesting marketing plan. It operate under the ideas that are so many bad people out there, and by bad I mean people who break the law, that you need a dating site to run background checks to ensure you’re not dating Manson, a notorious bank robber or even plain old Joe Schmoe who just happens to be married to some other person. I’m not saying that this isn’t a noble endeavor.

Dating Time Capsule
The dating process can be a lot of fun – especially at the start. It’s those crazy conversations that you can get away with having like what you would take with you if stranded on a deserted island or if you had to choose between love and money, which would you pick. One I like to ask perspective girls I date is what three things would they like to stick in a time capsule to represent them. I’ve heard all sorts of answers – everything from curling irons to Martha Stewart magazines.

Cancelled Plans
What’s with people who make plans and then cancel? I’ve had three friends cancel on me in the past two weeks. Do I smell or something? Now each of them are really old friends so I won’t think much of it but since when did this become acceptable?
