HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The New Year is upon us and we’re in the same damn boat we were in last year – we’re single! No matter how many dating sites are reviewed at Cupids Reviews, it doesn’t take away from the reality of it all: dating isn’t easy! It got easier with the advent of dating sites, but we’re talking only a fraction.

Dating Single Germans?
Achtung! I found a new dating site for German singles and you’d never guess who made it: Friend Finder! That’s right, folks, German Friend Finder is yet another niche dating site from Friend Finder camp. The company puts out great sites. There’s no doubt about that. The problem is in the route they take to promote them. They just aren’t user friendly from the start.

Ikea for Love
Is it just me or is Ikea a huge magnet for singles? Every time I’m in there, I can’t help but notice all of the single guys and girls browsing the vignettes and show floor, looking for an accent to set their place apart from the next or a new friend they can bring home to their Sandhem (that’s Ikea’ish for gorgeous two-seat sofa). Yet if you look closer, you seem to get this SubtEXt.

Santa Sucks for Dates
It’s the day after Christmas and Santa didn’t send me a girlfriend AGAIN! I’m beginning to think I’m on the “naughty” list. But I SWEAR I’ve been good! I held the door open for EVERYONE this year, even that skater kid who spit on my feet as he passed.

Great Expectations, Poor Results?
Part of what I do involves scouring the web for new dating sites to review. The first six months were easy. There are just so many these days, but not all of them are quality. That’s where I find myself now. I reviewed a site this past week called Great Expectations. It has a decent Alexa ranking but something just doesn’t sit right.

DreamMates Dream Dates?
Members make dating sites. For those that have come late to the game, it can be hard to get a foothold. There are just so many dating sites now that are competing for the same members and offering a similar product that the industry is going to see a similar dot-com era bust. One of the solutions to this problems is to have sites share their database of members, so no matter if you sign up for one, you end up having your profile marketed on many.

Christmas Dating
You always want to do your best to ensure you take every possible chance you have for romance and Christmas provides opportunities that you wouldn’t have throughout the year. It’s a time to get together friends and share the memories of the year past. It’s time off work for most, and a general slowing down of everything in life. It’s also a time to reflect on love. Love lost, love found and love that may be just around the corner is hard to keep off your mind at this time of year.

Age Match Gap
I’ve always been one to say that love should bridge the generational gap when it comes to dating. Myself, I’ve dated older women, almost exclusively. Fifteen years has been the largest gap. We went out for a year and I enjoyed every minute of it, yet in the back of my head I began to realize that despite my beliefs, dating with such a huge difference in age just isn’t for me.

Jewish Match Dating Site Members
When I see a dating site that seems to have few active members, I always wonder if it’s because they’re new, because they don’t know how to market themselves or because they just plain suck. I can easily tell a crappy site after I’ve done a review. You get to know the features to look for, the price points that are appropriate and the subtle signs that tell you there are people genuinely interested in making it work.

Deaf Singles Date
I love the fact that niche dating sites cover all kinds of areas, including disabilities. We have dating sites for active people, animal lovers, Asians and big, beautiful women – and men! Warning bells go off, though, when I hear of sites catering to disabilities, such as those for the deaf. It’s not that I’m against providing a specialized service.

Armenian Dating - Hye?
Niche dating sites always suffer from a lack of traffic because they concentrate on attracting a smaller segment of the population. Then along comes a dating site like Hye Singles. Not only do they choose a target demographic, they go as far as to use Hye in the title so that only those who understand the language can figure out what it’s about. Hye means Armenian, in case you were wondering.

Gothic Grumble
You have to wonder how much good business translates into good service. I began to wonder this last week after contacting support at Gothic Match. I had approached them for a simple link exchange. They had written back, agreeing to the terms, and so I thought things were set.
