Afro Connections and Tokens
I don’t know about you, but I really like token-based dating sites. I think in a year, I may send signs of interest to ten people. If you take the average cost of a monthly membership, somewhere around $25, it works out to about $30 per contact. Now I understand I could be in the minority. I’m sure there are a lot of people getting more use out of their monthly memberships than I would. Still, for me, token-based systems are the way to go.

Best Face Forward
Using a webcam for dating still seems like a bit of a bold notion to me. I remember the first time I came across one. I was heading out to work for a TV station in BC and a buddy gave me one to keep in contact. The problem was I couldn’t make it work! This was six years ago and my computer wasn’t quite adequate, I don’t think, but the idea really intrigued me.

Sadly Seduced
I was reading comments left by people on our reviews today. It’s interesting to see how vocal some people can get! It’s not that I blame them. I’ve seen so many scams online that I’m surprised I can stay as positive about it as I do. Many of those that left comments, though, had lost their positive energy. They had been burned on sex sites, whether it was by a site that made them sign up only to find very little luck on the inside, or by fake profiles targeting them to ensure they kept paying.

Hit Dating a Miss
The worst thing about having reviewed so many dating sites is that you never know what you’re going to get when finding a new one. The big dating sites were easy to find. Advertising is everywhere for them and they are usually the first names out of anyone’s mouth when the subject of being single comes up. When it comes to the smaller ones, though, you just never know what you’re going to get.

True Lies
I signed up for True.com the other day. This site has received a load of media attention as of late as it attempts to push for legislation requiring background checks on dating sites. If a site is going to stand on its soap box and scream to the world that there needs to be closer scrutiny of members, that site had better make sure it’s own house is clean.

Dream Date
How much time have you spent imagining what your perfect partner would be like? Do you know how they would sound, look, feel and taste? I’ve spent a lot of time over the years thinking about those specific things. I spent a lot more time when I was younger. I remember sitting in the cupboard under the stairs when I was four, dreaming of various girls. I used to always imagine a team of cheerleaders was with me. It was a great fantasy to have at such a young age.

Dating Style
Which date is the movie date? I got into a discussion with a friend tonight over taking a date to the movies. I’m a firm believer that a movie date is something that’s good around four dates down the road. He was taking a date to the movies on a second date. I think that this might be okay if your date is for a weekend and you know you have a lot of time to spend together.

Truth in Profiles
Online dating is part reality and part smoke and mirrors. You couldn’t hope to convey who you are in a few lines of text and a bunch of snapshots. Likewise, you can’t expect anyone else to be able to do it either. There’s an implied understanding that everyone should be mostly what they seem, though.

Fit Singles & Premiere Crap in Etobicoke!
Well, let me tell you how P.O.’ed I am at my gym! I work out at a local club called Premiere Fitness in Etobicoke. They always have these nice ads on TV showing a super-spiffy club filled with tons of pumped peeps. The reality, however, is quite different. Inside they have a club that is falling to pieces.

French Friend Finding!
Parlez-vous a little French? If you do, then French Friend Finder would like to see you join. As far as dating sites go, I’m a fan of the way the Friend Finder sites operate. They have most of the extra features you’d find on any other site and far more than most. We’re talking about the ability to meet in chat rooms, take part in groups, write blogs, easily find local members and built a network.

Allergic to You!
I had the funniest thing happen a while back. I met a girl online who suffered from allergies. In particular, pets, such as cats, spell death. I have a cat. I knew the girl wasn’t going to be able to ditch her allergies any time soon and my cat still has a few more good years left in her, so was there really any point in continuing? We did – at least for a little while. She was fantastic but there just wasn’t any chemistry. The last night we spent together, she actually stayed over at my place.

Finding Gay Friends
I’ve been rambling on as of late about the Friend Finder network of sites. It saddens me to say that Gay Friend Finder is no different than the rest. Sure, it may not be as expensive as some of the other Friend Finder sites, but it is probably more expensive than it’s worth. I just can’t stomach a site that won’t let you view profiles! I think the whole Friend Finder team, regardless of sex or sexual orientation, should be locked in a room and sprayed with cold water from a fire hose until they come to their senses.
