The Age Barrier
Should age be a barrier to online dating? This is something I’m constantly bumping up against. I never expected it would have any impact on my dating life, but I notice myself turning down more and more people due to their age. This was never a problem during my early adolescence. I want to meet anyone and everyone, in large because I had a need to try and bed as many people as I could.

Illinois Passes Dating Law
Just when you think you’re out in the clear, Illinois comes along and spends a lot of government time and money on one of the silliest laws I’ve seen in recent years. They passed a law that says dating sites must tell residents of the state whether or not they perform background checks on members. How silly is that!

A Dating Decline?
Hey, have you heard the rumor that online dating in North America is in a decline? Is the world coming to an end? This whole multimedia schmooze fest just got off to a grand start and now it’s experiencing a slump? Well, looking at the numbers, it’s not that people are pulling themselves off sites left and right. It’s just that fewer people are posting new profiles. The amount of singles has reached a critical mass. People are still signing up.

An Avenue for Love
This weekend I had the pleasure of actually getting out to a club to meet some old friends and do a little dancing. As can be expected, the conversation at some point turned to dating. Out of the group, their were a handful who were single. They were members on sites such as Yahoo, Date Canada and Lavalife.

Juggling Dates
When it rains, it pours. That was the message I received from a friend this past weekend while we hovered around a piano bar in downtown Toronto. It seems he’s gone and got himself into a bit of a pickle on Friend Finder. He went from a relatively calm dating card to juggling three prospects at once. This is the luck with online dating. You may not meet a single person for months, or even years, and then suddenly you find yourself wrestling time from your schedule just so you can take a stab at romance.

A Lock & Key Weekend
A friend of mine went to a Lock and Key party this weekend. When I heard she was going, I nearly fell off my chair! I thought those came and went with the 70’s. Apparently they’ve resurfaced but with a slightly different approach. Gone are the days when you found your key in someone’s lock and then took him or her upstairs for carnal pleasures. That has been replaced with a more civilized take. This weekend, for example, it was done at an art gallery in Toronto.

Some might ask why that wasn’t on our list of categories from the start, but then comes the obvious issue of this being a business.
