Want an Omelet?

PerfectMatch and eHarmonyIt’s a beautiful day out here in Toronto. The sun is shining, the weather is warm for this time of year and the morning is young. However, things aren’t truly perfect. At least it doesn’t seem that way for a couple of companies. One of the sites on my poop list is eHarmony.

One Bad Date

One Bad DateWell, it finally happened. I had a bad online dating experience. Prior to this past weekend, I only had two stories that came close. One of them involved a woman who used a picture taken ten years prior. The other involved a woman who photoshopped some noticeable features off her face – and we’re not talking a nose or ear. This past weekend takes the cake.

Christian Mingle now Relationships.com

We just got word that ChristianMingle.com is changing its name to Relationships.com. This means it’s time to re-review. Beyond that, it’s also an interesting move. Relationships is obviously a better brand name for a dating program but it certainly lacks the same focus that a Christian-specific domain would have. When you visit the new site, there’s no getting away from the religious overtones.

Terrible Dating Profiles

Terrible Dating ProfilesIt never ceases to amaze me how many people just SUCK at writing profiles! You hear all of this backlash against online dating – about people not having any success. In many cases, half the problem is that people don’t put the energy into it!

A New Dating Site?

Mate1 DatingHave you ever heard about Mate1.com? I hadn’t until a couple of weeks ago. I was chatting with a reporter from The Wall Street Journal about the dating industry and how sex sites, in particular, have grown on the Net. He was the one to bring up Mate1. Never having heard of them, I took a look.

Email Overload

I have way too many emails in my inbox on a dating site I belong to. It’s crazy! The problem is compounded by the fact that I say in my profile that I will respond to everyone who writes. I dug myself into a hole from which there is no escape. I wonder how many days you can get away with not responding to an email before it becomes rude? Normally I’d say a day or two, unless you have some good excuse, like you were away on vacation. I’d use that, but I’ve logged in and out a number of times over the past few days, so although I’m not responding to emails, it’s easy to tell that I’ve been online. How rude I must look!

Dating a Celebrity

Celebrity DatingCelebrity news has always been interesting for me. I don’t quite know why that is. Maybe I like it because it’s an absurd look into how the rowdy other-half live, and that’s exactly how I live my life, except without all of the press to catch me at it.

Too Far Away?

Too Far Away? How far is too far away for dating? A friend was chatting with a guy on a military dating site who lives about two hours away from her. She’s not sure if she likes him. He’s cute, she says, but she’s just not sure the connection is there as of yet . . . but it could be.

Words of Love

I love love. There, I said it. I always have. Ever since I was a little guy, I have always been fascinated by the idea of relationships and what they’re really driven by. There’s been a lot of great things said about love, whether it be in classic tales or through scenes portrayed on the big screen. I think these have helped drive the meaning home to me – that love is worth laying your life down for.

Who Ya Shaggin?

Chance for SexYou meet some interesting people when you're dating online. Take, for example, this past week. I had been chatting with someone a few months ago but shortly concluded that there was no chance for a relationship. She was offended - or so i take it as she never replied to my email. A week ago she popped back online and apologized for not returning my email. I made a friendly offer of coffee as payment for my sins.

Love Doesn't Happen

Love HappensLiving the life of love isn’t one of those things that just happen. You
need to strive for it. That’s what some people just don’t get. Everything is too easy in life. If you want cold water, you turn on the tap. If you get hungry, you open the fridge. When it’s too cold, you throw on more clothes and curl up under a blanket. People begin to feel that if love isn’t as easy, then it’s not right.

Want to Date a Golfer?

Dating a GolferI’ve seen quite a bit of press over the past year for DateAGolfer.com. Personally, I like the idea. You can’t shake a golf club anywhere in North America without hitting a number of courses. It’s a great sport for men and women and it seems like a natural fit to have a dating site that specializes in it. I’m all for it!
