A Sweet Senior Guy

Bookmark This Page

Sweet Senior Guy!You know, I'm starting to get on in years, but I'm not exactly a senior guy yet. I can imagine that when I am, if I'm still single (chances seem good of that being the case at the moment), I'll be happy that there are seniors dating sites out there.

My landlord is a senior guy who's really quite a sweet dude. His wife died a few years ago and he hasn't yet brought himself to the point where he can ask another woman out. They used to go out dancing quite a bit, and I think he gets most lonely on Friday nights when he'd usually be out cutting a rug with his wife. Nowadays, he usually just goes for a walk by himself. He lives close by and every now and then he'll walk by my place while I'm sitting on the balcony, and he'll stop and have a chat.

He's a really interesting senior guy, with a lot of great stories. He went all around the world with his wife and they lived their lives to the fullest. I don't think that he's given up on life, it's just that I'm not sure he's done with the grieving process yet. It probably takes quite a while to get over someone when they've been so ever present in your life. When they've shared your best memories and your worst tragedies. When you've fallen asleep next to someone for almost fifty years, and then every morning you wake up and find them gone. I can't imagine the kind of void that must create in a person's life.

I've been talking to him and encouraging him to try and just go out on a date and see how that goes. He seems to be warming up to the idea, but he's not quite ready. Nevertheless, I'm sure it won't be long before he meets another sweet senior who he can look in the eye and say, "Shall we dance?"
