Breaking Someone Up

Breaking a Couple UpIt’s official. I want to break a couple up. Now, it’s not for the reasons you may think. I haven’t fallen in love with someone and am now gunning to get them to split. On the contrary, I love this couple. They’re so good together, it hurts. But their time has passed and they’re both ready to go their separate ways – but they don’t.

It all started with a conversation with the member of the pair I’m closest to. We were out sipping drinks on a patio one night when she dropped the bomb. She was no longer in love with her boyfriend. They weren’t sleeping together any more and they rarely spoke. This made it difficult because they had bought a house together in the country and were still living together. Twelve months after this discussion, they are still together. He does his own thing while she does hers. She’s as adamant as ever that there’s no future yet still nothing changes. She’s stuck in a corner because she’s used to having such a good life. She’s got a big house, a dog and great neighbors. If she breaks things off, all that goes away. As much as I like the two of them together, their relationship is hurting them both. They’re living a lie and it’s time for it to end. I’d love to help but I know I can’t. They’re going to have to work this one out on their own. Still, it’s so sad to see people waste time together when the love of their life could be out there right now waiting for them.
