Chatting With A Shy Deaf Guy

Chatting With A Shy Deaf Guy!Despite all my bad experiences with chat sites, I continue to converse online. The reason is simple. It's an incredible method of filtering out people who have nothing to say. It takes only a couple of minutes, sometimes even seconds, to realize a guy's only interested in sex and has no interest in getting to know you or engaging in conversation of substance. More recently, I met a guy who turned out to be quite interesting and deaf. Turns out the Internet is a fantastic tool for deaf dating. Shy deaf guys like him can meet gals without worrying about communication getting in the way of first contact.

I don't think I even knew he was deaf until our third conversation. I was talking about music and ask him what he was into. He said he didn't listen to music much. He's not completely deaf, but enough that it impedes him from getting as much out of music as you or I do (assuming you're not hearing impaired as well, of course). Once I found out he was deaf it all makes sense. He's not very interested in movies or TV. Instead, this shy deaf guy reads a lot. Imagine, a man who reads! From my point of view as a writer, a man who has a way with words is incredibly sexy.

His shyness isn't so apparent online, but he tells me he's nervous meeting women in real life because people tend to look the other way when faced with a disability. Everyone wants perfection. If not, they want some ideal version of a man or woman that's propagated in the mass media. Sweet deaf guys are not popular these days. Being shy doesn't help much either.

These days I'm opening myself to possibilities. Sure, I'd love a guy who's tall, dark and handsome, not rich--but financially secure, stable yet spontaneous, calm yet passionate… and all those other dreamy qualities that us gals fantasize our soul mate to be. However, these days I'd go for a guy who's kind, generous and positive. If this shy deaf guy meets these criteria, he's got great potential. I figure I have far more to gain than to lose. With an interesting guy like him, the worse case is I make a new friend.
