Communication and Online Dating

Bookmark This Page

CommunicationIt goes without saying that one of the cornerstones of a good relationship is communication. How comfortable you feel discussing the thoughts that are passing through your head about your relationship, your day or your views of current events is essential. Without healthy communication a relationship is doomed.

That is one of the great things about online dating. You are forced right from the start to see how well you and your new found love interest can communicate and what you have to talk about. I personally need to connect with someone on a friendship level before going any farther. If we have nothing in common to discuss or if we can’t engage in clever debates now, then how will we be able to sustain a relationship a few months or years from now? If they’re only interested in talking about sex then I know they’re not for me. If they start to ask me what body parts are my most attractive before they even want to know what I do for a living or what I like to do in my spare time then I know I need to keep searching. Don’t get me wrong, a healthy physical relationship is very important but without basic communication existing between two people, without getting to know them as an individual and establishing trust and respect then there couldn’t be a physical relationship and then the relationship won’t last.

Although meeting people online can sometimes be discouraging, I know that if I just have faith I will always be able to meet someone new on a dating site. Using Cupid’s Reviews can point you in the right direction to finding the rights sites for you. The possibilities are endless and one of the things that online dating really helps you discover is if you have anything to talk about.

Hi

I completely agree. You can tell a lot about someone online and if it gets awkward you never have to actually see the person or write to them again.

Meeting face to face can be difficult. If a guy comes up to you in your favorite coffee shop and turns out to be a creep, it can make going back to your usual haunt awkward.
