Dangers of Dating
Today was a slow news day in the dating world. The only post I made was linking to a story of a woman who was raped at the end of a date. She met this creep online and went out for drinks. She apparently had a few too many. He walked her home and that’s when it happened.
I can’t say enough about the need for safety and dating. This goes for men, too. Take a look at that guy last week who brought a girl back to his place for some S&M fun and ended up getting handcuffed and robbed! I blogged earlier in the week about a guy who contacted me who I’m sure was off his rocker. Dangerous people come in all shapes, sizes and levels of computer literacy. Anyone can pop online and pretend they’re sane. Safety is a way of life – everyone who dates should live it!
Despite the need for safety, there are times when you can take it to far. If you want to have a site that does background checks on its members, fine. Go ahead. All the power to you for doing it. But when your marketing efforts start to move outside of the realm of your business and affecting the lives and perhaps even laws of your country, well, it’s time to back it off. We need a solid push towards safer encounters but legislating it goes way too far.
Play safe, everyone.
