Don't Fall Down
Last night I ventured out for an evening to celebrate a friend's birthday. We hit a club I hadn't been to in years - but it was a regular haunt back in the day. The place filled slowly but the drinks came quick. The crowd was hopping as the beats broke in and everyone seemed to have a smile from ear to ear - or at least that's what I told myself.
A girl introduced herself partway through the night. She was a few years younger but looked really friendly so we chatted for a while. As the night went on, she drank more and eventually started looking at bit sloppy. By that point, I was a little sloppy myself. I should have seen the signs but I missed them completely. She came forward - reaching, grasping. She stumbled. I was off balance. She fell. I fell. I tumbled backwards onto the floor but somehow managed not to spill a spot of my drink. By the time I got up, she had run off - no doubt even more embarrassed than I was. Moral of this story: don't fall down when chatting with women in clubs!
