Fear Mongering

Bookmark This Page

Fear MongeringTrue.com has an interesting marketing plan. It operate under the ideas that are so many bad people out there, and by bad I mean people who break the law, that you need a dating site to run background checks to ensure you’re not dating Manson, a notorious bank robber or even plain old Joe Schmoe who just happens to be married to some other person. I’m not saying that this isn’t a noble endeavor.

I’m just against the idea of fear mongering. Hey, Saddam has weapons of mass destruction so we’d better be scared enough to bomb the heck out of the country without decent proof! There’s a big storm going to hit – jack gas prices! Damn it! If there’s somewhere that fear shouldn’t be present, it should be in the arena of love! Maybe that’s why True bills itself as the way it does. But for me, it’s just too much hype with your hand on the button – and we all know how this type of scenario usually plays out.
