Finding a Hot Jewish Date
I have a sinking feeling about this entry, which is probably not what people want to read when they start skimming the latest blog. So I'm just going to go out on a limb and say that this is a great time to go out on a hot Jewish date - the Jewish community was one of the first to really capitalize on the online niche dating scene, and the Jewish dating world has never been the same again. Not that people should feel limited to the online Jewish dating extravaganza, but if you're looking to narrow the field and save a little time, you should let your mouse do the walking. Of course you don't have to be Jewish to take advantage of the Jewish dating world, but it wouldn't hurt.
As I've mentioned in previous entries (not necessarily related to Judaism) most date sites have search options which can help narrow the search down and being Jewish isn't quite as exotic or limiting as, say, being a Taiwanese cross-dressing welder. Some people might complain that limiting your dating options to ethnicity is kind of near-sighted, but there's something to be said about having enough commonalities with your partner that meeting the parents isn't a horrible ordeal. If you're a tad sick of dating nothing but goys, this is an excellent opportunity to see the kind of options you have when dating within a close-knit community.
The best bets are places like Jewish Friend Finder and JDate (and no, the J does not stand for Japan). Ridiculously easy to use, plenty of variety no matter what area of the county you live in (Jews stuck in fly-over country can enjoy the kind of variety that's typically reserved for the coastal Jewish megacities). The great thing about these dating sites is the safety of space (you can safely weed out the lunatics from a distance) and you don't get the "no romance" feel of far too many singles bars. There are definitely some losers on the net as there are in real life, but the online dating world has advanced far beyond the primitive days of the early nineties.
Remember, the Jewish dating scene is as tightly knit as it's physical equivalent in real life - you'l find plenty of great dating options online that would otherwise go unnoticed in the hectic and irritating singles clubbing scene. Find a gal/guy that would make your Mamma proud!
