Free Date in Cuba
Getting a date in Cuba is apparently not an easy thing to do. I had a friend who went there recently. He’s a super guy with one bad ex-girlfriend. And when I say bad, I mean really bad. That’s why when he took off to Cuba, I was hoping he would end up on a few dates with some super Spanish girl. That way he could see what a great relationship was like again and not have to worry about the troubling tramp at home. Unfortunately, Cuba brings its own problems…
He did Cuba like more of us should. He flew into Havana and moved around for two weeks, avoiding the usual resorts that the rest of us end up in. (Yes, we’re from Canada here – but when Castro falls and the country opens up, you US’ers should make the trip. It’s nice!) He was looking to find some Salsa lessons and maybe chat with some of the local men and women – but all he got here guys. It seems that Cuba has a lot of hooker prisons and if you are seen talking to too many foreigners, in you go! He traveled for a whole two weeks with no sign of some quality free dates – or even the not-so-free ones. Then again, prison sucks, I hear, and word probably gets around fast. Finally, on the day before he was to leave, he was standing outside some resort – after paying to use their facilities and grab a bite to eat – when a well-dressed lady walked by who was adjusting her brazier. A few minutes later, she walked by again, apparently struggling with the same problem. She walked by a third time, still playing with her rack, when she looked up at him and pointed to the lack of ring on her wedding finger. A quality pantomime ensued where she gave him her address and he mimed that he was leaving the next day – but promised to write her a postcard. Methinks from the whole strange affair that there may not be any free dates in Cuba for some time to come.
