Friend Finding

Finding Friends OnlineI’ve been going through the sites again, re-rating them with new criteria, and it blows me away how well Friend Finder sites have done. They are some of the most popular in their field yet they have some major issues when it comes to the amount of free access they offer new visitors. I recently reviewed sites like
Korean Friend Finder, Filipino Friend Finder and Asia Friend Finder – as you can see, I’m starting at the top with “Asian Dating” and working my way down.

Friend Finder doesn’t all you to view every profile – only those of paid members. This means you can’t really get a good idea of who else is on the site. Since you can’t contact non-members anyway as a free guest, wouldn’t it be better to show you more of their profiles to help entice you? Maybe it’s one of those “the less you see, the more you want to see” things, but it just seems a little silly for sites that clearly have a lot of traffic. They also limit local searching to within a hundred miles until you’ve paid – hardly an acceptable distance when you consider an hour and a half to two hours drive time could be involved with many of the matches that come up on first search. That would be a tactic I would expect from a site that was lacking members – but the Friend Finder sites clearly aren’t. Obviously, I know little about the business end of running a dating site. However, what I do know a lot about is the user end of dating sites. From the point of view of a single, Friend Finder sites have a couple of serious barriers up that make me skeptical of the service they run. But from the point of view of someone who has been around and knows them for what they are, I need to find my credit card. I know there’s a solid member base on their sites and one that I have yet to introduce myself to!
