Happy Halloween?
Last night, while most were out on the town, parading up and down the streets and bumping and grinding in the clubs, I was at a friends place eating chili and drinking red wine – Santa Carolina, Cabernet Sauvignon, in case you were wondering. Somehow we got on the subject of possibly going out on the town. It was never in the cards, really, as I had been out the previous evening with friends and was trying to recover.
However, my friend brought up an interesting point. He said that of all weekends in the year, Halloween was the easiest to meet someone new on simply because everyone is in disguise and that anonymity leads people to act out. Different clothes make me move or behave differently so I can buy this theory. If I’ve got my square-toed biker boots on, I have a more pronounced gate. I walk differently -- more like I’m on a runway then on the tennis court. If I’m wearing by big, brown coat, it’s size makes me bulkier, so I tend to let my arms hang down and move more with my shoulders. If I was wearing a face mask, I’m sure I’d behave differently there, too. What I will say is that I would never act like some fools do online, getting all explicit and running my mouth off, trying to pretend that I’m more than what I really am or pushing for a roll in the sack simply because I’m anonymous. Although I missed it, I think that I’ll make a point of getting dressed up for next year. Pretending can be fun in private – but getting wild and doing it at a club or bar is what a proper Halloween night out should be all about! Muhahahaha!
