The techno romance idea stuck in my head because I was thinking that there are probably a lot of people out there that still attach a stigma to online dating. They might think it's a last resort, or that it means they can't meet people in the "real" world. I think it might be time that people realize that a techno romance might be something that is desirable in its own right. Maybe an online romance is the best kind of romance.

Now, personally, I'm not the kind of guy that would prefer a virtual date to one that occurs in the real world, although activities like that certainly have their place. That said, I do think it is time to realize that we live in an increasingly technologically oriented world. Computers are a positive tool in so many aspects of our lives. They make our tasks at work much simpler, broaden markets, facilitate the practice of medicine and keep us in touch with friend in the far reaches of the world. It's time we realized that computers can be a source of positive progress in our romantic lives as well.

There are all kinds of really obvious reasons why online dating can be a good thing, but idea of a techno romance gave me the image of something special and unique. Usually we meet people in fairly obvious ways, whether through friends or social activities. The great thing about a romance that begins online is that it's private and secret. It exists only between two people that would otherwise be strangers. It's a great way to have a nice, quiet, beautiful relationship that belongs only to the people involved. It can be a warm, secret space to hide yourself away from the rest of the hectic world. Think about that. Isn't that just the definition of romance?
