Lavalife Launches with Skype
Is it something new or a rehash of what we’ve seen before? That’s what I’m left asking after hearing that Lavalife has launched a singles chat room based around Skype, the free Internet chat client.
It sounds a lot like those numbers you used to hear about on late-night TV. Actually, I think they’re still around. You know, the ones that have half-naked men and women cooing away at you, trying to convince you that you can meet your soul mate, or next sex partner, with a call. The big difference between the TV system and the one Lavalife has set us is price. Skype is a free service. Does that have you racing for off to download it? Let’s hope not. I just gave it a whirl and there wasn’t a single person in the country online to chat with. Mind you, it’s 9am the day after its launch and most people are rushing off to their lives, which is probably what I should be doing right now instead of blogging here…
