Shy Love in an Outgoing World
Coyness is underrated. In an age of visible thongs ("whale tails" as they're not so affectionately called), stripper reality shows, and the collective tackiness of Paris Hilton/Tara Reid/Lindsey Lohan, a little coyness can be alluring and attractive. But shy love has got it's risks as well. One of the more frustrating events in life is not unrequited love, but love left unsaid. It's difficult for some people to summon the nerve and say something, anything, to the object of their affection. You either end up in the friend-zone (which isn't necessarily bad, but it can be frequently fraught with tension) or simply drifting apart from your paramour as a result of being too shy/coy/polite etc etc. Overcoming awkwardness is pretty basic, but it's hardly an easy barrier to overcome for everybody.

Kissing Asian Lips
She came into my life not so long ago. Online dating was new and every smile received and email exchanged promised something that I had been searching for most of my life. Was I sure what I was looking for? No, not really. Did I meet someone special that I let pass by? Maybe that girl, that Chinese girl was the one. She was a professional dancer who came from China to seek a better life. She had long, thin legs and a beautifully sculpted body. Kissing her Asian lips was fire and ice and stirred passions that I never knew existed.

Kiss the Girl
How many times have I whispered that phrase to myself over the years? I’d find myself in a situation where things in a relationship were progressing to that point of first contact, yet frozen in fear, I’d wait for them to make the first move. Kiss the girl. What this boils down to is not about failed first kiss between new friends. It’s much more profound. This is about chances never taken in the arena of love. How many possible good relationships have you passed up because of chances never taken?

Puppy Love
I had a bad case of puppy love that followed me through most of my high school years. It started in grade nine. I had just turned 13 and went to the movies one night with a buddy from grade school. We had parted ways and went to different high schools abut he was bringing a girl he was seeing and one of her friends to the show. I distinctly remember having received Polo cologne as a present and dumping it on the both of us before we left the house. I think the movie theatre still smells of it to this day, but I digress. What’s important is that it was that night that I was clobbered by puppy love.

Love Text Messages
Romantic buggy rides down a country lane on a warm, August night are all but a thing of lore these days. We’ve come so far in the past hundred years that our whole idea of romance has changed completely. Romantic poems and heartfelt letters have been replaced by love text messages where words fail to resemble their actual appearance (2 for too, for example) and popular sayings get crunched down to save space. LOL! Does this mean that the face of romance, as we’ve known it for so long, is now dead?

Watching Two Girls Kiss
A friend of mine got married recently. We used to work together years ago in the news business. She was a great person to have on your team. She was deadly smart and had a keen with that kept the office on their toes. We became friends and spent a lot of time outside of work together, talking about life and love. One day she came into work with a story of a new girl she met in a club on the weekend. We went out a couple of weeks later and I met her for the first time. She was tiny Greek girl, with curly black hair and a wide and pretty smile. Together, they made sparks on the dance floor and off. They were writing romance that night—a romance that would bring something new to the table. It was clear that they had chemistry. But it was when I saw these two girls kiss that I realized I was witnessing more than rampant passion.

A Kiss to Build a Dream On
I have dreamt about a lot of things over the years. Thoughts of what I’m going to do for my career have always been at the forefront. I’ve dreamt about the places I’ll live, the people I meet. I’ve thought lots about love, too. Despite success in most areas of my life, the one that has lacked the most has been in the area of romance. It’s not that I haven’t had more than my fair share, for I have. It’s that I haven’t found a single person that has given me a kiss to build a dream on.

My Wife In Bed
I had a dream last night that was so vivid, I woke and reached over to turn on the light. I half expected my wife to be lying there beside me. She wasn’t, of course, seeing as I’m single and have never been married. Still, the dream itself was so real. I had to get out of bed to get a hold of my mind and the many thoughts that were racing through it. I could have sworn I was just in bed with the love of my life—and she was more wonderful than my heart could handle.

A Short and Sad Love Story
It looked to be like any other Internet connection. A smile arrived in my inbox. We exchanged a few semi-witty emails. We rolled over to chat on instant messenger. We even had a couple of phone conversations. It was our time spent on the phone, talking about family life, past dating experiences and strange objects found in our fridge that really changed things for me, though. It was there that the real romance began…

My Lake House
Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock starred in The Lake House, which seems to be a mirror of my life. I think most single people can identify with the characters: two mid-life professionals who just haven’t found that connection – the one that lasts a lifetime. Welcome to my world…

Dreams for Love
I woke today, wondering where you were. We were together just moments before. I could still feel you near to me. I could smell you on my pillows. I knew what you felt like in my arms. But then they were empty.

Whats it Like to Fall in Love?
What’s it like to fall in love? It’s been so long that I think I almost forget. Yet despite how I feel, I know this isn’t the case for everyone. Online dating ends up being a great tool for some in their search for that special someone.

The Best Dates Ever
It’s hard to think back and recall the best date I’ve ever had, but I’m sure they would have to have been the ones I had in my childhood. Although they might not be considered dates from a more mature perspective, the feeling and fun I had when I was 13 and 14 years old seem almost more real than the ones I feel on dates today.
