Letting The Girl Go
Today a good buddy of mine is ending things with his girlfriend. They’ve been going out for a few years but times have been tough. She’s younger than him by a few years, putting her in her mid-twenties. She’s been partying a lot and these days and he’s in a different place. She has guys sleeping over at her house and he’s not down with that at all.
So, despite how wonderful they are together and how great a future they could have, he’s cutting her loose. It’s really sad, actually. To have something so good go so wrong that it has to end is a tragedy. Sure, it’s the right thing to do despite how hard it’s going to be. But it doesn’t make it any better for the rest of us who have to sit back and watch as he uncouples the cars so his train can keep chugging on. Where’s a good group hug when you need it?
