My Search for Religious Honeys
Christian dating ideas are plentiful these days. The church is still one of the primary places to meet people, as wholesome as church service can be. After all, when you're amongst your congregation you can be sure that, if nothing else, your would-be partner shares a similar faith. Church service remains incredibly formal however, although that formality tends to weed out creepy single guys on the prowl for religious honeys (the formality of church is not a rock solid screening system however - there are definitely some creepy gents who make up for their lack of likeability with determination). There are plenty of other options for the Christian dating scene - let's go through that list shall we?
Most congregations have a wide variety of extracurricular activities, including the time honoured picnics, bingo games and other church outings. This breaks out of the occasionally stifling formal atmosphere of a proper church service, but as mentioned you can still narrow the search down to people of similar faith. These are great opportunities to let your hair down and actually get to know like-minded singles from your congregation - meeting potential mates has been one the driving forces behind church outings for centuries, and it's still a good way to meet eligible singles. Cruising weddings is probably a bad idea however - yes, there is tendency for people of similar faiths to hook up during or after a good reception, but just because the people in Wedding Crashers and The Wedding Singer do it doesn't meet that you need to follow their lead.
You could always join the party online. There are many Christian dating sites out there, of varying quality. They tend to range from user-friendly sites filled to the brim with great catches, or sub-par online services which charge a fortune for a dog's breakfast collection of desperate loners. The best of these places have fun interactive features like live chats and they'll winnow down people who are online for less than respectable reasons.
The days of religion being a dating handicap are over (not that secular dating ever had any huge advantages over more religious dating circles). A person's faith makes up a crucial part of his/her outlook, and you shouldn't have to waste your time going on pointless dates with someone who doesn't share your values. It's refreshing to see people of faith break out of the stereotype of the repressed single, and there's definitely better ways to begin a relationship than some awkward encounter in a shadowy bar. Let the light of faith shine down on the singles scene!
