Rich Men And Their Toys To Attract Younger Women

Bookmark This Page

Ladies Love Presents! Many of my friends peruse online dating sites and the other day I heard a story I can't not relate to you. A woman I know (let's call her Amanda) is a member of a wealthy dating siteeven though she's not rich and for the past couple of weeks, two rich guys have been fighting for her attention and the result is hilarious. You see, rather than showering her with compliments or trying to pass off what sensitive and funny guys they are, they showered her with insanely expensive gifts - just another example of rich men and their toys to attract younger women.

When is a gift insanely expensive? Do two first-class tickets for a weekend in Paris count? How about a 40-inch wide-screen LCD television? These are the kinds of gifts Amanda was receiving. From what she said, the guys were both kind and sensitive and though she was on a rich dating site because she was looking for someone well-off, she wasn't just trying to milk them dry before dumping one in favor of the other. She just thought that she wanted to marry a rich guy.

I'll admit though that she was and still is looking for a rich and sexy sugar daddy. She took the trip to Paris with wealthy male number one, and last night we watched the latest episode of "Lost" on her enormous television from wealthy male number two. Rich men and their toys to attract younger women drive me crazy - mostly because I wish I were them. It seems so much easier!

But then she met a guy on a "normal" dating site. They clicked immediately, met two days later and from what she said over coffee this morning, she thinks he might be the one. The irony is that the guy is a lowly copywriter who makes next to nothing and lives in a small apartment in New York that he can barely afford.

She hasn't told either rich guy and they continue to send her gifts. Yesterday it was a $1,000 gift card to Cornelia Fifth Avenue (a spa retreat in New York for extremely well-off folk). She accepted even though she knew she was going to eventually commit to the copywriter. As it turns out of rich men and their toys to attract younger women aren't always successful. I've always looked past certain things I don't like in my friends and I'll do the same in this case. Come on, the "Lost" season finale on a high-definition, 40-inch TV? Would you end that friendship?
