Unlike romance ideas at home, dating on the road would have to involve a lot of preparation for what might occur in the future. For example, if my itinerary has me stopping over in Detroit for a few nights, I should probably consult the Michigan Dating Guide, take notes for the road and even try and set up a few dates online before leaving.

Trying to set up dates online for the next city I'll visit while I'm still in one and waiting to go on a date there would be another good idea. This of course means having a good laptop and only booking hotels with WiFi access.

This would clearly be an exercise in casual dating, so to be ethical, I'd have to make it clear that that's what I'm after in every town. Let the person I'm dating know off the bat that I'm only in town for a few nights, that way no hurt feelings and no sleaziness.

This could really work. First, I'd write a draft containing my initial romance ideas and how I've adapted them for the road. Then I'd take the trip and incorporate what happened, what worked and what didn't until it gave a complete picture.

This could put all the other United States dating guides to shame and if I do a second edition, say in Canada and a third one in Europe, this could really get huge.

I can't get ahead of myself, though. I have to remember that it will take time and a heck of a lot of work, but hey, what worthwhile endeavor doesn't. As long as I accept that this is a long-term goal, I can always have this trip to look forward to.
