Sex on the Slopes
Yesterday I saw my first flakes of snow. Feeling the urge, I ran out to the Toronto ski show and bought myself a snowboard. Somehow methinks this means I’ll be spending a great deal of time on the slopes this year. The question remains: who will you and I be spending that time with?
Skiing always seems to attract a fun crowd. A day on the slopes is like a mini-vacation. People are happy. Getting away from city smog and filling their lungs with beautiful, clean air leaves people feeling rejuvenated. You can’t ask for a better opportunity to meet someone special then when they’re high on life. If you are seeking special connections, skiing isn’t a bad place to start.
The last time I really skied, I was in high school. I had been skiing since I was 12 and although not the best technically, I had enough skill to make the ski team. Those days, I was too young to partake in the action at the bars. Mind you, we didn’t need it. There was enough opportunity to meet someone in the lift lines. I remember being with friends on a ski lift and spotting a group of girls on the slopes. Then we’d race like mad once we got off to try and catch up to them. When we finally caught them, usually in a long line as they waited for a chair up the hill, they’d be just as rosy-cheeked and runny-nosed as the rest of us. Skiing shows people at their best and worst and somehow that’s a recipe for love in my books.
I spent a lot of my youth on the chase. These days, though, I think a little more tact is appropriate. I don’t know what this ski season will bring, or who, but if sex on the slopes ins in my future, this will be one ski season to remember.
