Single Parent Dating Services: Hitting Two Birds With One Stone
Gail was one of my previous relationships that didn't work out. It's not that we didn't get along well with each other. In fact, the times I spent with her were among the most memorable moments of my life. It's just that she wants to start a family and I didn't feel I was yet ready to settle down. She totally adores children, but the funny thing is she can't stand crying babies. I once jokingly told her why not date single parents? I'm sure there are single parent dating services out there to help her out and voila! She'll have instant kids without having to wake up in the middle of the night to feed or change diapers. I even suggested great opening emails to help her out. I never thought she'd take it seriously, but apparently, she did. A couple of weeks later, she was going out with a single dad with two cute, little boys.
To say that she was ecstatic would be an understatement. All these years she always wanted to have children and now, not only is she dating a handsome man, but she gets to play mom to two adorable kids as well. Gail would always take them out somewhere when their father is at work and they spend their weekends together like a family. She kind of reminded me of the child-obsessed character played by Jennifer Garner in Juno who believes she was born to be a mother even though she can't have kids of her own.
Everything seemed to be going so well for Gail that I was quite surprised when she told me a few months later that they had already broken up. The main reason for the breakup was that she was paying too much attention to the boys that she was always tired when it came to spending quality time with her boyfriend. The fact that the kids didn't like it when she was constantly fussing over them was an issue as well. In relationships like these, the childrens' opinions matter a lot and it can be a real deal-breaker. She got too carried away playing mother that she forgot to be a girlfriend to her partner.
That experience really shook her up, but not as much as when Reese and Ryan call it quits. It didn't stop her from searching for guys on single parent dating services once more, though. Now that she knows that being a perfect mother comes after being the perfect girlfriend, she'll be more careful not to make the same mistake again.
