Monday night saw me meeting with Isabella, a 26-year-old secretary whose guilty pleasures include B-movies, trashy romance novels and steak submarines. Naturally, as it was a Monday evening and I know of plenty of submarine restaurants, I figured I'd take her to one I frequented often for a quick, low-stress bite out.

I probably don't need to say this, but it can be really painful to see someone is just not into you. Sitting across from me was this beautiful Spanish girl and she was politely chowing down while being dreadfully bored to tears. I was seriously swooning over this sexy Latin woman, but there was absolutely no spark being felt by her. After the quick first date, she said it was nice meeting me and off she walked into the sunset like a sad B-movie ending.

I almost wished she was a stuck-up witch so that I could pick her apart after she left, but since she was actually polite and quite nice, all I could do was look at my own faults. Was I unattractive or unfunny? Did I come off as cheap or immature? The answer to all was probably a no, but I couldn't see that at the time.

That was then. Today, I'm eagerly anticipating the date I've got lined up this Friday night with another Spanish sweety. The good thing about the Internet is that there is always something else right around the corner. It's all trial and error at heart, but eventually you'll meet someone who is right for you. The lesson I learned from my date on Monday is that I should try and switch things up when it comes to planning first dates. Instead of always playing it safe, I think I'll suggest something out of the ordinary. What do you think of go-kart racing? Every beautiful Spanish girl is into that, right? And if she's not, then chances are there's someone out there on the Web who is. I've just got to keep my hopes up and keep putting myself out there until I meet her.
