The Muslim Mistress Who Became A Wife
It may sound a little cold, but I feel that it's human nature that people will frequently see others in the same category or fulfilling the same function that they did when they first met them. Someone breaking this mould is always something that impresses me. Such was the case with my friend, we'll call him Eddie and his Muslim Mistress. Yes, Eddie was married and had a mistress on the side. He hadn't particularly been looking for Muslim singles, but rather searching for company on a Milwaukee dating site because that's where he lived at the time and they just hit it off.
Regardless of what you think of infidelity in general, you'll soon find out that their story is a happy one or at the very least an interesting tale that is worth writing about. Eddie wasn't Muslim, but she was. Let's call her Fatima. It wasn't the most common relationship, but it was a strong one and much stronger than Eddie's marriage. I never asked his Muslim mistress how devout she was in her religious beliefs or how she reconciled her religion with what she was doing out of wedlock with someone, who was in a marriage. I didn't live in Milwaukwee and had only met her in person once when they were in town.
As all good things do, this came to an end. Eddie moved away for his job and the wife came along. His Muslim mistress stayed behind. As I could have predicted, Eddie's marriage ended and the wife moved back to Milwaukee.
A few years later, I was supposed to meet good 'ole Ed for coffee, but was delayed by the fact that I had gone out late the night before and my alarm clock wasn't loud enough to wake me. Fortunately for him, he ignored the fact that his old acquaintance is unforgettably late and stuck around to wait for me. Guess who he ran into? Fatima! Their romance was instantly rekindled and now they're getting married.
Not only is this yet another happy couple I helped to re-set up, but it's proof that human nature can be overruled and people's romantic roles can change in other's eyes.
