I’ve always been against the “movie date.” Spending two hours in silence is just not a good way to get to know someone. Sure, a couple that found each other in a Star Wars chat room might think it’s a clear choice, and in that case I’d even go as far as to say that it would be a good choice. The force is probably with them, after all.

Beyond my whole belief that a movie is a bad date to start things off with, there comes the question of what to see when catching a flick during a night out becomes appropriate. Again, I’m thinking dualing sabers might not be the most appropriate choice. Then again, something like The Notebook or The Bridges of Madison County might be a little too over-the-top for a first night out. Bridges brought an old relationship of mine back to life when it should have remained long forgotten. Damn that Meryl Streep!

I’ll do my best not to accost any couple I see tonight. I’ll try not to pepper them with questions on why they chose this movie on this night to see together and instead keep to myself. I’ll be wondering that, of course, as I stare across the theatre at them, butter from my popcorn running down my hand and a fat cup of coke at my side. Why on earth did they choose this show? How could they come together to see this movie about “the Sith” while I, dating mouthpiece that I am, sit unattached next to a group of either very drunk or very stoned industry friends. Revenge is sweet but I think the Sith won’t be the only one with the last laugh tonight. I feel a tear coming on . . . booo hoooo!
