The Tom Kat Breakup
I was in the grocery store the other day, buying food for a feast with a friend, when I came across a paper claiming that Tom Cruise and Katie Homes had broken up. My heart leapt for a second. You see, Dawson’s Creek had a lasting impression on me. By 1998, I had graduated high school and the Beverly Hills 90210 days were long behind me. I was left searching for a young-love drama series that suited my place and time. That’s when Dawson’s Creek came on the air and I fell for the feisty Joey Potter.
One of my favorite movies with her is Wonder Boys, which was panned by critics. It puts Homes in university, studying writing and parading around clad in red cowboy boots. Giddyup! Now, less than a decade later, she’s hooked to hitch with the biggest movie star on the planet. Yeah, I admit, I’m a little disappointed that she’s off the market, but at least she chose well. Still, I wonder what it would be like to be her and Tom, out doing some weekday shopping (lets assume that they actually cared to do their own groceries), and stumbling across crap in a rag that certainly wasn’t true. I think that it would have to affect your relationship in some way. It’s not that I feel sorry for Tom Kat. They are living the life, after all. I just think it’s too bad that love gets crappy end of the stick in that one.
