The Ultimate Relationship Question
Are you in love with me?I think this has to be the most powerful relationship question you can ask. Not to be confused with ‘do you love me?’ which is the same as asking if someone cares for you, this question, above all else, drives to the root of relationships. Being in love with someone is something extraordinary. It’s being in love that builds castles on clouds, makes impossible treks seem possible and tells those fighting for it that it is worth dying for.
Are you worth dying for? I’m 30 years old and although up to this point I have had a couple of long-term relationships (we’re talking around the three-year mark) I have yet to find someone who I’d give my life for. I have told many people that I’ve been on love with them but it only felt like that at the time. I realized it when I found a better question to ask. Can I see myself with this person forever? I have never been able to answer that with a yes. Not yet. I know she’s out there somewhere, though, waiting. She’s worth dying for. And I hope she knows it, too.
Are you going to be in love with me forever? Ah, there’s a question that is impossible to answer truthfully. I’m not saying that people wouldn’t believe the yes they utter as it passes their lips. It’s just that life has many things in store and forever is an awfully long time. Still, being in love forever is romantic, and I think I’ll hold onto the notion for as long as my realist mind will let me.
There are many different relationship questions that can bring about a wide
range of responses and situations. I suppose the most important thing, above
answering them truthfully, is just to ask them. When was the lasy time
you asked your love one of the ultimate relationship questions?
