Uncovering Muslim Girls

Beautiful Muslim Women! When I was still in college, I had three female classmates who happened to be Muslims. Tasnem was cute and petite, Baimuna was tall and really pretty and Aliyya was a goddess and she drew people's attention whenever she entered the room. I always thought these three Muslim girls were really pretty, but me being a bit naive at the time, always wondered why they didn't come to class wearing their standard hijabs. Maybe because Muslim dating would be easier if they wore their street clothes? Most of our Muslim female faculty went to work wearing something to cover their hair, but not these three girls.

After I became friends with these three women, I found out that they were brought up in what they called a "liberal" Muslim family. Their family was okay with them going out in public without a hijab or a face veil as long as they conducted themselves in a respectable manner. Aliyya's parents were fine with their daughter having a Catholic boyfriend as long as he dropped her off at her home before curfew and as long as they didn't have sex, of course. Baimuna didn't have a boyfriend because she wanted to focus on her studies. Tasnem, on the other hand, was forbidden to date by her father. It wasn't so much because of their Muslim culture, but because her father had issues about seeing his baby girl grow up as most fathers do from any religion.

If Muslim girls are not wearing a hijab, it is not because they want to show off their Muslim beauty. It's probably because they don't want to stand out if its not the country's culture for girls to cover their faces. I remember reading Aladdin when I was eight-years-old. In the story, the beautiful Princess Badroulbadour (not Jasmine) covered her face because it was a rule at the time that she could only expose her face once she was married.

If all women today are still following Princess Badroulbadour's example, then dating is going to be impossible. Call me shallow, but I choose to date women after I see their faces. I'm not a Muslim, but I did see a lot of sites that have a Muslim dating service and a lot of the women there are really beautiful. It would be a shame to hide their faces just because of their culture. I believe that when something beautiful is created, then everyone should have a chance to admire its beauty. You don't see an artist hiding his most beautiful creation. Muslim girls are Allah's masterpiece too and like a piece of beautiful artwork, they too need admiration.
