VOIP Over Distances

VOIPBad things happen to relationships and experiencing physical distance is certainly one of them. I had a relationship that started when I was working on the other side of the country. I knew I was coming back home in a certain amount of time and that relationship was going to be put under stress. It certainly wasn’t easy, but we knew there was an end in site that made the time apart bearable.

It took many long phone conversations to make it better and a few phone bills that were a little pricey. We had to get a long distance plan, which wasn’t that expensive – but certainly not as good as free! Today things are different. As long as you have a computer, you can talk to anyone else in the world for free as long as you’re paying for Internet service. I’ve been looking to record phone calls for interviews. I thought VOIP was the answer – and it could still be. The first option I looked at was Skype. They don’t have any set up fees and you pay as you go. I can call anywhere in North America for 2 cents a minute at any time. If someone I was with moved, as long as they had a computer and a headset, I could chat with them for free for as long as I wanted. In my books, that’s a very good thing!

Well, I have tried online dating through an online dating service that required that I pay a monthly membership in exchange for access to singles looking for relationships all in one place. I actually didnt care for any of the people who cared to contact me and found that simply chatting in a free chatroom like Yahoo or otherwise had better results. So, I agree with you totally. It is not only virtually free to meet and connect with other people around the world, but free services might even be superior to paid ones.

Amanda - I think online dating is totally the way to go. Even if you end up spending a couple of dollars it gives you an extra place to search and to find Mr. Right. It has been my experience that the more serious guys will be the one's who are willing to pay the extra money to meet the love of their life. Don't give up on internet dating - you never know where your Mr. Right may be....

It has been my personal experience, that people who pay for a dating site are the more "serious" types. I would say keep looking online because you will find good guys, but you just have to be in it to win it!
