We all know that “little guys” normally try to compensate in other ways, be it fast cars or diamond rings. If companies make a big deal out of nothing, they normally do it with a lot of flash and panache. Adult Locals seems to be in denial, because instead of using features to dazzle and distract us from the limited membership, it keeps everything down to the very barebones of what you'd expect from any online dating site.

You can do localized searches but not in the most ideal manner. You see, there's no zip or postal code search option. Instead, you can choose a country, state or province and then type in the name of the specific city manually. That's not the most efficient way to provide truly localized search results, because some cities are larger than others, so you might have to travel a lot farther than just next door for a hookup. Also, some people might not even spell the name of the city the same way you do.

The only reason why I'd sign up for AdultLocals is if I saw someone with whom I was almost certain something could happen and that individual was already a premium member. You see, although you can send free "flirts" to other members, no email communication is possible without both parties being paid subscribers. You can read a message sent from a paying member, but you can't reply without buying a monthly membership.

You might have deduced by now that there are few extras on the site, since there's no chat rooms, message boards or even an instant messaging system. The only thing that they've added is a link to an amateur live cam site, which would require you to pay a per-minute premium for private one-on-one conversations with amateur men and women who are not merely other members from the site's dating community.

Perhaps most surprising to me is that the site increased its monthly fee since our last visit, making Adult Locals cost as much as many other online dating sites that offer more features and reach a larger audience.
