Armenian Match is designed to bring together people of Armenian descent throughout the world for the purposes of everything from causal dating to long-term commitment and even marriage. Having a rather specific scope as to whom you would meet on this dating site hasn't stopped it from demanding that you pay a rather pricey monthly fee to join. Therefore, you may just be asking yourself what separates it from the rest of the mainstream Web personals and other ethnic-specific online dating experiences.

I'd say that there are very few features that I find uniquely suited to the target market of ArmenianMatch.com. However, there are at least a couple things that make it somewhat special. First, when you fill out a profile you are asked what your level of "Hyeness" is, which is to say whether you're Armenian or not. If so, you are asked which other nationality would best describe your origins. You could be Armenian-American, for example. Secondly, there are a couple of dating articles on this site that have been written specifically about the Armenian dating experience. However, that section of the site doesn't seem to have been updated in ages so, despite the fact that they seemed to think it would be a good idea to give some culturally tailored dating advice, they have since run out of steam.

As there are no group chat rooms, or member's forums, the sense of community sort of ends right there. It's a shame, because the site seems to rely on your standard fare, as far as what is offered to members. Advanced searches, including localized results, are free on ArmenianMatch. There is onsite email and instant messaging. You can also send the usual free "flirts" to show interest in someone. It isn't clear, but it seems implied from the FAQs that it is free to reply to messages, while to send them, you obviously need to upgrade. As far as the instant message system, you need to check who is online and send a private message by clicking "let's chat" to start a one-on-one conversation.

Overall, the biggest issue with the site would be the lack of visitors it attracts. I suppose you might think that it's just too niche specific to attract many people, but I've seen equally specialized sites do a far better job at pulling in the numbers. Moreover, the monthly membership fee is much more expensive than most other dating sites. The only way that it becomes reasonable is if you sign up for at least three months.

The site may seem somewhat overpriced, but at least you have the ability to check out the number of active members in your area before deciding to spend the money to sign up to Armenian Match.
