CanadianPersonals.net is your solution to your Canadian online dating needs. It has unfortunately seen a drop in the number of visitors it attracts since last reviewed. It has attempted to make some improvements, such as introducing free keyword searches, available even before upgrading. It has stuck with its more traditionalist approach to dating. To that end, you can only look for a member of the opposite sex and there are no options for those looking for intimate encounters. Here's what else we saw inside...

This site has one of the fastest sign-ups I’ve encountered lately. You really aren’t forced to provide much information before getting online. That’s not to say that you can't answer additional questions that will make your profile more comprehensive, but the choice to do so is completely your own. Beyond the basic information and additional questions, you can also take a compatibility test that analyzes your personality. Let me tell you that it asks some strange questions and your responses are to be based on your childhood, so anti-Freudians probably won’t enjoy it very much.

You can send flirty “smiles” or prewritten ecards without a membership. If you want to use any other form of communication, you need to start paying for access to CanadianPersonals. Once you do, there are a few good and fast ways to make that special connection with a fellow paid member. Obviously, you can send and receive emails. You also have chat rooms, and from within a chat you can launch instant messaging conversations, as well.

There are also message boards that are free to read, but require a premium membership to enable reply posting. I always say that I don’t expect any free rides in life or in online dating, but when a site has a small member base, I question sometimes the logic behind limiting contact between paid and free members. I am not sure if I would want to pay a monthly fee if there are loads of free loading subscribers I can’t reach.

The price has remained the same, although to the current strength of the Canadian dollar, whichever currency you pay in, the cost is the same, whereas before it cost more Canadian. I hesitate to make a glowing recommendation for this site merely because the subscriber numbers just haven't been there and recently site traffic has diminished. There are lots of other Canadian-aimed competitors with more members and you could do much better on the pricing.

This site needs to work on better promotion. Nevertheless, one thing in favor of Canadian Personals is it does allow localized searches to within 10 miles of home, so it is easy to check out your own local area to verify membership levels. That, combined with the quick and easy signup process, makes it a good choice for those who have the time for a quick peek.
