DeafSinglesConnection.com has a somewhat unique demographic. It's specifically aimed toward the deaf and hearing impaired. Living with any sort of disability can be a challenge, so it helps to join a community where you can be sure that other members will be empathetic, not merely sympathetic, to the obstacles of everyday life. Without the same perspective, people can be well-meaning but misguided in their efforts to include you and often feel uncomfortable addressing the situation with humor.

One woman on Deaf Singles Connection cleverly wrote, “If interested message me 'cause I’m hard of hearing.” Obviously, she gets “it” and feels she’s in the company of other people who get “it,” too. Read through the message boards and you'll see plenty of equally humorous, as well as poignant, posts regarding dating and dealing with others around you in the hearing world or within the hearing-impaired community.

The process to create a profile is similar to what you’d find on any dating site. However, you can select your native language to be ASL or BSL. Everything else is par for the course. Despite my misgivings about profile systems that don’t “force” or coerce subscribers to disclose much, the people on this site seem to have voluntarily completed with above-average consistency all the optional informational fields provided.

The first thing to do is try to make at least a few tentative contacts. I suggest trying an online “smile” at someone or an e-card to demonstrate your attraction to a person’s appealing description. Like any great site that aims toward a feeling of community, there are message boards you can read for free to see what the other folks are like.

Upgrade your membership to join live chat rooms, post on message boards, or to use instant messaging. Obviously, if you pay, you can send and receive email, too, but I'm mentioning it separately to highlight the fact that if you send a message to a free subscriber a reply requires that the other member upgrade. That considerably limits your chances of making contact.

Deaf Singles Connections has some compatibility features, too. Take a personality test to determine what color-coded type you are and with whom you have the most in common. Their matchmaking system uses a criterion of completed and percentage-rated factors in determining whom you would most like to meet. You'll receive offsite emails with lists of profiles of others who best coordinate with your calculated characteristics.

The site attracts limited traffic to its pages. However, it remains reasonably priced, despite lacking large numbers of subscribers to pay for its services. Visit Deaf Singles Connection to meet deaf and hearing-impaired men and women and their peers.
