The profile section on Dream Mates is rather generous. They offer two essay questions for members, one about yourself and one about your potential match, but each allows for about 2,500 characters of text, so there's plenty of room to say what’s on your mind. The rest of the profile is a series of checkboxes. One downside is that you can only upload three photos.

I was a little confused when I first began running searches as profiles popped up in mixed order. It turns out that Dream Mates uses a matching system by default, showing first those who best meet your ideal match criteria. However, you can tailor searches so that new members pop up first or so only members that have logged within a specified number of days are displayed.

Another feature that deserves mention is the localized searches. Dream Mates lets you really hone in on who's truly close by to home. This is another helpful tool when looking to see how many members are active in your area. Last login details are also provided along with the ability to see all other profile details.

As mentioned before, Dream Mates uses a simple matching system that helps you to find people who meet your criteria. For this to work, members need to fill out their profiles completely. Another feature they have is “Just My Type.” Based on the members whom you have previously expressed an interest in, it offers similar matches.

Free access is important when trying to determine if a site is worth the money they are asking you to spend. Dream Mates allows free members to send signs of interest and to respond to messages from paid subscribers. This is a huge plus when you’re just looking to get your feet wet on a new dating site.

DreamMates.com is a well-built site. It isn’t as slick as some of the other big sites out there, but it does the job. It also has instant messaging and community message boards, so it does offer other means of communication than just email. The monthly price has been lowered since our first review, so now it's more competitively priced than it was before. Take a look and run some searches. If you find a lot that’s of interest to you, it will be worth the money you spend.
