Fit Kiss takes over where Sports Friends left off, as now the site has a new URL while maintaining a similar style and design. That's a tad unfortunate, because there were a few things that could have done with a bit more of a makeover. It's definitely not the best site for anyone who wants to really try everything out before committing to a monthly fee, because you have extremely limited access until you pay to play. Nevertheless, the concept - if not its execution - is great.

Despite having fitness dating as its focus, FitKiss.com doesn't really have anything specifically in its profile creation process that really caters to the athletically minded. You can write an essay about what sports you enjoy, but there are no checkboxes or dropdown menus that specifically detail physical activities. That means you can't search that criteria easily. You can upgrade in order to do keyword searches.

Meanwhile, free searches are limited to within 200 miles of your location. When you get your results, you can't see the last login dates unless you're a premium member. That makes it tricky to judge the level of activity in your local area before upgrading. Besides getting results that aren't close to home, you can't be sure how recently the other members have visited the site. Not the best way to encourage people to join.

There are some areas tailored to the fitness theme. There's daily fitness news for premium members. You can also check out message boards and personal blogs even before you upgrade to a paid membership. You'll definitely get the sense that despite not having much uniqueness about their profile process they've made some effort to create a feeling of belonging to an online dating community that isn't just about finding dates.

There's instant messaging, a group chat room and, of course, onsite email. Obviously, to initiate a conversation with anyone, you need to buy a premium subscription, but at least it's free to reply to emails or instant messages. I find it very important that if you pay for a membership you should be able to get responses from all levels of subscribers without forcing the other person to upgrade in order to reply to your message.

The greatest limitation to the site is its lack of traffic, since it really doesn't seem to be doing well at attracting visitors to its pages. Strangely enough, despite the lack of interest in the site, they still raised the monthly service fee by a third. It's difficult to get much from Fit Kiss unless you're willing to take a chance and upgrade right from day one.
