Fitness Singles is a dating site for those who can’t get enough of the gym, pool, track, bike or whatever other type of physical activity you can think of. Although some people on the site are just looking for an activity partner, FitnessSingles.com is geared more toward romance. Having something in common, like a burning desire to torch some calories, could possibly lead to a match made in cyberspace.

As with most dating sites, you really need to register before seeing what it really has to offer. You start off with a focus on fitness. You must choose three activities right off the bat and a skill level for each. After all, you wouldn’t want to go rock climbing with a dead weight tied to your back, would you? From there, there’s a multi-page process that must be completed before you get the keys to the Fitness Singles kingdom.

Don’t worry. You can fill out most of the information in five minutes. They recently added a new feature, where you describe your best physical attribute. You can choose to be coy or romantic and say your eyes, smile or personality, but you could be blunt and put your stomach, legs or butt.

As you might expect, there’s a large selection of sporting options to ensure you can find the right activity partner. It also has a keyword search. Appearance seems to take special consideration on this site, but remember that the majority of us think we're better looking than we really are. For your profile, aim high!

When it comes to contact options beyond email, the site only has one: instant messaging. Mind you, their instant messaging software has video and audio capabilities. You really only need one quick contact option to have a site work for you, but without other ways of interacting with fellow members, such as group chat rooms or message boards, the site loses out on creating a sense of community.

There are several significant drawbacks to the site. It has seen a big decline in visitors to its pages. In part due, I imagine, to the second issue I have with the site, which is that you cannot reply free to messages, even if they come from paid subscribers. The final nail in the proverbial coffin is that despite the decline in surfers, they've increased the price by about 30 percent. The current monthly fee isn't overly expensive, but a price increase hardly seems a good way to entice renewed interest.

Fitness Singles needs to rethink its strategy if it wants its members' ranks back to the picture of health.
