A large number of people on the site speak French so it may not be bad to have an understanding of the language before you sign on—or at the very least, a French-English dictionary to help you translate! We checked through the site and this is what we found…

FrenchFriendFinder.com attempts to provide a community for singles who share the love of French language or culture. The site has a bunch of fun extra features such as a chat board, blogs, instant messaging and a magazine that users can contribute to, but they all fall short if there aren’t many members taking part in the discussion. When we searched the site, we there were only a handful of people in the chat rooms. This is a shame considering there’s a lot this site could do with the right combination of members.

When it comes to members, profiles make a member memorable. New users are in for a rude surprise on FrenchFriendFinder.com because you’ll only get a brief glimpse at other members. The second you click to look at a bigger picture on a profile or try to delve any deeper into the information a given member may supply, you’re presented with the payment form. Unless you start to cough up money, you won’t see anything more than that. This makes it difficult to tell the quality of members on this French singles site. Most sites let you see profiles without paying so if you’re worried about taking the plunge, back off until you know more about the site.

You must be wondering what you can do on French Friend Finder for free. This is really simple. You can send signs of interest. If you send it to a paid subscriber, they may write you back ... or they may not. You can also use the public chat without paying but this won’t be much use to you as, as mentioned before, it doesn’t seem like a popular feature.

The good news with this site is that it will tell you after you run a search when a member was last online. Paid members come up first followed by standard members. Standard members are just like you—those who have yet to purchase a membership. If you don’t see enough members who interest you that have logged on in the last month, this may not be the site for you. True, you only need one connection to last a lifetime, but the odds are better when there are a number of people logging in each day.

French Friend Finder knocks one out of the park from a technical standpoint. From a practical perspective, you need to look closer to see if there are enough people you’d be interested in chatting with. Since there’s no way a free member can organize results based on distance, this is near impossible to tell. The $12.99 monthly fee rolls over to $11.99 for each additional month so it’s pretty inexpensive considering what other sites are charging.

Overall, I love what French Friend Finder has done to build a community for French singles. There are lots of things to do here besides just dating. It’s the dating portion, with the inability to view profiles up front, which turns my grapes sour. However, if you’re French and don’t mind paying the price to see behind the curtain, I’m sure this is a dating site that’s worth your attention.
