Gay Friend Finder is out to put a little romance back into the lives of single men around the globe. This site comes with all the usual trappings you’d expect to find on a dating site and just a little bit extra that makes it seem like a true online community - not just for serious dating or hookups but for making friends and connecting with your peers within society at large.

Profiles make a dating site. That’s what’s so unusual about GayFriendFinder. They only allow extremely limited access to free members. Generally, you can only see brief summaries of profiles. You might happen to see the occasional full-length profile, but it's hit-or-miss in the end. That's in part because if people pay an extra fee, they can be contacted by free members and also because you can earn special access based on the popularity of your own profile.

Nevertheless, other options aren't so limited for guests to the site. You can do free localized searches based on a Canadian postal code or American zip code, for example. If you upgrade you will, of course, have more advanced options, but at least you can judge the number of members in your general local area without having to pay for a membership first. You can also see the approximate last login info, so you have an idea how active those members near you are.

When it comes to extra features, GayFriendFinder.com excels in that area. There's a magazine with user-submitted articles, personal blogs, message boards and chat rooms. Much of this content can be accessed without paying, at least on a limited basis. If you upgrade, you can also view videos submitted by other members. Although not sexually explicit, you'll see some rather sexy fellows introducing themselves on video. You can also "go local" to retrieve all the user-submitted content that's related to your general vicinity.

Another added feature for those who are concerned whether profiles are real or not is the ability to confirm your identity by sending your identification by mail, so you earn a confirmed badge with all your details, such as age, height, weight, etc, for everyone to know you were truthful in your profile. Moreover, doing so will earn two weeks free of the lower of the two membership options, or a two-week extension added to the end of your existing premium subscription.

Finally, as with any dating site, numbers are the name of the game. This site has done a decent job at maintaining a modest but constant number of visitors to its pages. Gay Friend Finder may limit your free access to profiles but otherwise excels at offering a great online dating community.
