The site is just like any other dating site, allowing you to browse profiles and search members, much as you would expect. The only problem is that Friend Finder sites come with their own unique quirks and this one is no exception. It isn’t very user-friendly when it comes to letting you see who the members are on this site. If you are just looking for a general dating site to meet people than this may not be the one for you. The profile quality on German Friend Finder is good but you won’t be able to tell that for yourself until you pay for a membership. Most sites let you browse profiles freely but German singles get the cold shoulder here, only being able to see a brief profile summary. If you try to click into the profiles, you’ll get an upgrade prompt.

That is frustrating. What anyone new to online dating needs to do to determine if a dating site is good is run searches and see how many profiles local to them log on frequently to make connecting possible. GermanFriendFinder seems to make it easier to decide whether it's worthwhile to cancel a paid membership than to sign up for one in the first place.

Nevertheless, if you live in the United States, you can limit your results to within your zip code. However, if you want to do a distance search from a specific city other than your own, or even broaden the radius to a few miles wider than your home mailing code, you need to upgrade for the advanced search options.

As to the last login information, it seems German Friend Finder gives some broad details. You can see whether someone logged in during the last week, last three months or more than three months ago. That seems quite sketchy as far as confirming the activity levels in your local area. It would be more useful if you could sort users based on their last login date. Why they don’t do this, like most other sites, is cause for worry.

Nonetheless, one thing that German Friend Finder does best is creating a sense of community.
