High Joy is set up similarly to many online dating sites, yet it certainly offers something that most don’t. It's about virtual sex, first and foremost. The site is designed to work with special vibrators that can be controlled by another person over the Internet. That means that you can share your pleasure with someone special miles away, or even experience a perfect stranger living next door, from the privacy of home.

If you think you can jump onto High Joy and perhaps find someone to date, you might be disappointed. The site just doesn’t have the huge membership numbers you'll see on other web personals. However, if you’re looking for “good vibrations” you might just receive all that you seek. Here’s how it stacked up against our criteria.

"...you'll get more results returned if you don't insist on a photo or on only finding someone with the interactive sex toy."

Unfortunately, most members are without photos and there are even fewer who are “HJ Enabled,” meaning they don’t even have the special equipment to take part in the featured activity of mutual masturbation. Nevertheless, you'll get more results returned if you don't insist on a photo or on only finding someone with the interactive sex toy.

You can do free searches within 5 miles of any U.S. zip code, otherwise you're limited to searching an entire country. You'll be able to see full profiles with all their details, including last login date. You cannot contact anyone without upgrading first. Moreover, you can't even reply to messages from other members unless you become a paid member.

You can check out who's online, but you can't actually participate in any chats without first upgrading. That said, I'm not sure how I managed it, but I was able to find a way into a section that listed, with profile pictures, several people who were in the actual chat section of High Joy. However, when I tried to check it out later I got the prompt to upgrade first.

The only area that does seem accessible to everyone is the message boards, which are relatively active. Some subscribers have mentioned in their posts that they had a hard time finding anyone online at the same time as they were visiting the site. Timing is everything, I suppose, although as previously mentioned only a few members are equipped with the virtual tools to do justice to the unique experience offered by the site.

I did notice that in recent site news, there's mention of an article in a major newspaper out of Toronto, Canada. I would hope that such mainstream publicity might help to bolster interest in the site. As it stands, High Joy hasn't quite reached a high point as far as attracting enough members to make it worthwhile to join.
