Italian Friend Finder is aimed toward a specific cultural group and does a very good job of creating a sense of a true online dating community where you can meet friends as well as find amore. Many sites targeting a specific niche fall short in terms of offering more than just a cookie-cutter type of site experience, so the fact that this one succeeds where others have failed definitely counts in its favor.

The process to create a free profile on ItalianFriendFinder.com is simple enough - as far as the minimum amount of info you need to provide - but you do have the option of creating a rather extensive portrait of yourself. That is if you take the time to fill out all of the additional dropdown menus, blank fields and essays. The section of additional questions asks you to provide details regarding your dating history and life in general that let people get to know you better.

As a free member you can do searches within your zip code (U.S. only). You'll only be able to view some select profiles in their totality, but the summary results reveal how far away members are from you and when they last logged into the site. If you live outside the United States, you'll be limited to a whole country, and state or province. You can reply to 10 emails from paid subscribers each day, which is actually good news for both free and premium subscribers.

As implied in our intro to this review, one of the site's strengths is the amount of extra features. You can access chat rooms, blogs, groups and magazine articles to entertain you. Some sites scrimp on these features, but they’re necessary if you plan on taking part in a real dating community. However, again, access is limited to many of the features, not only to free members but apparently for paid subscribers, too, who choose the less expensive of two subscription options.

Despite all of the additional areas to visit on Italian Friend Finder, surfing the site is easy. The navigation and menus are self-explanatory and there’s always a way to get back to where you were before, but occasionally there can be a lot of information on the screen so you might need a bit of time to get familiar with how the site works. Once you do, though, it should be smooth sailing!

The site has attracted more visitors in the past than are currently visiting its pages. Perhaps the pay-before-you-play philosophy of this site has discouraged some folks, because when you first visit, it isn't evident how little access you actually get before you upgrade. Italian Friend Finder is best suited to those willing to invest in a monthly membership.
