Lesbian Personals is one of those sites that is obviously meant to have a rather specific audience but borrows heavily from other adult dating sites belonging to the same much larger network of web personals. In other words, you'll notice a few things that you wouldn't expect from a same-sex dating site. For starters, when you browse profiles, rather than search specifically, you may see profiles from women who are interested in meeting men, not other females.

When you sign up for a free membership, your options are clear and do focus on someone of the same gender rather than the opposite sex specifically. You can meet a single woman, a lesbian couple, a straight couple, or a gender nonspecific group. I must admit (as I already implied from my introduction), that there is a certain adult dating aspect to Lesbian Personals that I would not necessarily recognize as being standard for all same-sex dating sites targeted to the female population.

Creating a free profile is easy enough. You need to include very few details about yourself, although you are required to do a free form description of what type and with whom you're looking to share a relationship. You'll find out soon enough that many individuals probably do not feel the need to complete all of the informational fields, but at least you'll always have some personalized info for each member from their written essay response.

As a free member, once your profile is approved, you can participate in group chat rooms and send instant messages. Strangely enough, though, when it comes to using email, only premium members who have paid an additional fee can count on possibly receiving replies from free members. Moreover, you cannot view most full profiles without upgrading. Select individuals may be given limited access to otherwise paid services based upon the popularity of their profiles or participation in user-submitted sections of LesbianPersonals.com, such as blogs, message boards and the online magazine.

Speaking of which, all of these special sections of the site seem to be open to plenty of male input and, as such, appear to be of a more generalized sexual nature rather than lesbian specific. Plenty of married men seem to show up in discussions and, although they are polite and respectful enough, I'm not sure that all gay women would feel the most comfortable with them being around. Perhaps they might just find their participation in the site less relevant than completely off-putting.

In the end, what it comes down to, besides personal preferences, is how popular the service is in general. LesbianPersonals.com seems to hold extremely limited, albeit not entirely nonexistent, attraction for a modest number of visitors to its pages.
