Every dating site wants to be Match.com. It is one of the busiest sites on the Internet. You can chalk that up to any number of things… a great domain name, a reliable and intuitive interface, an early start in the dating game (circa 1995) or a huge marketing budget that ensures that just about everyone connected to the Net knows its name. Whatever the case, it currently has members from six continents and is available in 18 languages. The fact that this site is so popular and has so many members ensures that reading this review, at the very least, will be time well spent.

Scoring perfect marks for popularity isn’t an easy task. You’ve got to have a killer brand – and Match qualifies. The amount of members is the most important of all the criteria we use to determine a quality singles site and we take our hat off to Match for what it has accomplished. After all, when the people have spoken, what greater things can be said? For this reason alone, Match com is a singles site worth looking at.

The success that Match has achieved has allowed it to do things that some newer dating sites can’t – or won’t. First, it allows you to see when a user last logged in. This is essential to letting you know how popular a site happens to be in your area. Second, it gives you the ability to narrow your search results down to within a mile of your location. Thirdly, can view profiles in their entirety without paying a dime. Combine these features and you’ll see that Match isn’t afraid to give you an accurate idea of what members are available to you.

Match.com goes even further, though, by allowing you to search by keywords. I love this feature. This is helpful if you’re searching for someone who shares a specific interest and, let’s face it, shared passions are often essential to strong relationships.

"I’ve only made a handful of personal recommendations. You can add Match.com to my list!"

The biggest strike against Match is that it doesn’t let non-members reply to a members email for free. You can understand it from a business stand point, but there are other dating sites out there that allow connections to be made just as long as one of the parties is paying for it. You can view this as a plus in that it may weed out some undesirables. My philosophy is “the more, the merrier” when it comes to online dating, but hey, this is Match.com we’re talking about. We already know that it has “the more” part covered.

Cost is also a bit of a blip on our radar. At about $30 a month, it comes in a little higher than we’d like to see. Then again, they have to pay Dr. Phil for his words of wisdom, and my guess is that he doesn’t come cheap! Actually, joining the “Mind, Find, Bind” program he’s put together costs an extra $8 a month, so why is the site so pricy again?

There are a lot of other features, too, that come along with your membership at Match. You can check out “Happen,” the online magazine geared towards Match members. You can set up your criteria and take advantage of the sites matchmaking program. There’s a mobile section if you prefer your love on the go and there are relationship advice articles to help get you out of those rough spots. However, you won’t find a chat board or instant messaging program on this site.

Having been up and down this site, I wish I could give Match a better rating. It has more members than just about any other site I’ve seen. For that reason alone, it should be on anyone’s “must visit” list. But if you do drop by, be prepared to pay. Taking out a long-term membership, such as three months or six, can help offset the cost and I’m betting you’ll find it well worth your time. I tried it out for a few months, and if you’ve read the reviews here, you’ll note that I’ve only made a handful of personal recommendations. You can add Match.com to my list!

I have difficulties in accessing the site. I feel so ripped off especially with the price I paid. Other dating sites doesn t seems to have the problems that I have encountered with Match.com

Don t waste your money or time. Only subscribers can respond to email they receive. Most other sites at least let the receiver respond without having to pay for a subscription. And Match.com thinks Dr. Phil is a great marketing idea. Dr Phil is a quack!

Positives: high traffic and people with professional jobs Negatives: too expensive, people with unrealistic expectations of who they should date, and a lot of members with no activity from them (browsers) The biggest negative however is their pricing scheme: I paid for 3 months and couldn t communicate with no one because they hadn t paid. Match.com should let people who pay communicate.

It may be the busiest but also the most unreal. I have been on this site for awhile and I m not a bad looking guy. But, if you don t measure up the the fantasy stats that people seem to look for, then good-night. Lost money and lots of frustration. Everyone on this is ALWAYS looking to the next page for the Bigger-and-Better Thing. Don t waste your money.

I was a member for a few years. There is no messenger to get a better feel of who s on the other side. Lots of members and plenty of nuts. Not worth the money.
